We have seen all the usual modes of recruitment like advertisements, referrals, portals, etc.
However, there is a need for Recruitment Specialists to be more innovative.
They should be exploring the possibility of going out in the market and tapping potential talent themselves.
In Ahmedabad, the place to which I belong, I have seen HR guys, visiting places like tea stalls, cigarette shops, eateries, where sales people from various companies gather for tea or snacks during the late afternoon.
Casual talk ending with a potential candidate being found is something which is worth pondering upon.
One of my friends, working at a senior position with a leading life insurance brand, used to visit car showrooms under the pretext of being interested in a particular vehicle and would offer a job to the showroom salesman with whom he would go on a test drive.
These things may sound crazy, but worth a try as you can get to observe the prospect for sometime and possibly interview them without their knowing it.
Something which we HR guys should think about if we land up in or are aldready handling a recruitments role.
Any other mode of recruitments - please feel free to share your views.
